if a show is getting Low ratings than it is NOT making Money for the network and it gets cancelled

I’m not familiar with The Game or Lincoln heights but I’m sorry to hear that Everybody Hates Chris is getting canceled, I like that show. Unfortunately networks seem to expect shows to get a large following immediately and if the show doesn’t they cancel it. At least that’s what seem to be happening as far a I can tell.

It’s much more normal now than it used to be. The economy and the alienation people suffer due to our society being so mobile, makes it more likely that people will look to family for help with finances and companionship. It wasn’t THAT long ago that at least 3 generations of families all lived together. It was normal and made great sense. The grand parents would be there to help with the small children while the parents worked a job or worked the farm or ranch. In turn, the adults would care for older people as they began to lose their Independence due to age or health. Cooking meals all taken together meant the family all sat down together at least once per day and shared their days with one another. There are some men who are “Mama’s Boys” and you would want to find that out before getting too far down the road in this relationship. That he didn’t hesitate to bring you into his situation seems like a good sign to me. He’s not ashamed of it. If you like the guy, make an effort to know his Mom too, and see what you think. If it doesn’t appeal to you, move on down the road to the next guy.

There is simply no way to judge without having some questions answered. Why do you live with your mom? Is the house his? Maybe she can’t afford to live on her own. Just because she is a spry older women doesn’t mean she is wealthy. Basically if you really enjoyed that date and would consider another just bring the subject up on the next date. His answers will give you the info you need to know if this relationship is worth carrying on. If he is unwilling to answer it is a bad sign.

He could be saving his money up, with his mom paying utilities, the bills, etc. that saves a lot of money.

Maybe went through rough times with money and had to move back in then never moved out.

Or maybe he’s like my neighbor his mom thinks there isn’t anyone out there good enough for him, and she wants to keep him to herself.

Maybe his Mom has some kind of illness that goes into flares where one day she can be normal and another day she might not be able to do anything. Sometime people with them refer to them as invisible illnesses because people can’t see anything wrong but there is something wrong. Same theory with mental illnesses.

Maybe she is just honestly living with him because she doesn’t have enough money to live alone.

Maybe he even wants her there to be lazy ! =D.

I’m a UK RN and I’m a senior myself (66 and still working part time) I like hearing some of the risque jokes from the old girls in my care. I think it shows that they still enjoy life. No, I think I would pass on that one. Men are very embarrassed about their hair loss. Remember that rich guy with the combover? My husband hardly has any hair left, yet he washes it every day and puts hair spray on it. He looks better without the hair spray, but I cannot tell him that. Every hair has to be in place.

No, I don’t think so. I would not think it is funny to joke about ladies’ bodies going south, either. It is one thing to joke on line with silly forwards but in person? That is a whole other ball game and I don’t think a nice one.

Aging is very much a part of life and no, we don’t look 25 anymore….we have had our season of youth and now we should settle into comfortable seasoning.

I like Tina Fey’s performance best in this category. But lifetime achievement awards do happen, as has already been mentioned. In addition to Betty White, Elaine Stritch could receive the award due to her longevity and her popularity with older voters. I hate to say this, but if either of these actresses became very ill or died before the ballots were due, that would probably guarantee them the Emmy.

Change to: servings US Metric
2/3 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk (approximate amount)

Preheat oven to 375F degrees.
Mix butter& sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs& vanilla.
Add flour, little by little.
Add baking powder& salt.
Add milk, little by little until consistency is right.
Pour in a 9×13 or cupcake pan, lightly greased/sprayed& floured.
Bake for 30-33 minutes or until toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean.

I got this recipe out of a very old Betty Crocker Cookbook. Hope it helps.

Happy Cake

1/2 cup shortening
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup milk
Add all together then beat for 2 minutes
Add
1/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla and beat for 1 minute more.

Bake in a 9X13X2 pan for 30 minutes at 375

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup milk

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×9 inch pan or line a muffin pan with paper liners.
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. For cupcakes, bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

Simple White Cake
A basic white cake, to top with your choice of frosting, glaze, fruit, etc.

45 min 20 min prep
Change to: layer cakes US Metric
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 egg whites

Cream shortening, gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed with an electric mixer.
Combine four, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, begin and end with flour. Mix after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
Beat egg whites ( at room temp.) until stiff peaks form. gently fold into batter.
Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes, remove from pans, cool completely on wire rack. Frost as desired

And as a matter of fact, I haven’t heard Conservatives talk about ACORN in months, and I do listen to their shows.

It’s good. Wendie Malik (Talk Radio) is my favorite. She plays a actress who was on a now defunct soap opera for 23 years and now goes out of her way to remind anybody who doesn’t know it or recognize her that she’s famous.

In one of the latest episodes she’s offered a bunch of money to appear in a Japanese commercial for women’s pants that come with a built in diaper to aid in incontinence. She was a riot, and they showed the commercial at the end.

I recommend the show.

I made up my mind to watch it because I LOVE BETTY WHITE!!!

I think the show is pretty cute and funny and the actresses are a kick. Valerie Bertinelli….like her but not really thrilled at her part.

Having taught on 4 levels I never could figure out why “The Librarian who thought she was a great Educator” championed TED KENNEDY’S incredible flop “No Child Left Behind” Like all Kennedy legislation it was a disaster in application. GWB got credit for this as one of his snafus only because he didn’t veto it. I don’t picture Betty White as the ideal President nor Laura Bush – even though I would vote for either one or even Elmer Fudd before re-upping Obama.
